Sammy Connell

Sammy Connell is an award winning events professional who heads up the Conference and Events Team at NASUWT - The Teachers’ Union. 

Sammy has been an in-house professional conference organiser within the events and exhibition industry for 20+ years and spent much of her early career hosting events for Birmingham City Council – the largest local authority in Europe. She has since worked within the charity sector, hosting scientific conferences for stroke care professionals and now currently heads up the Conference and Events department for NASUWT – The Teachers’ Union, one of the largest trade unions in the UK, with 270,000 members hosting 60+ annual conferences and exhibitions year.

Sammy is the Co-Chair of ABPCO (Association of British Professional Conference Organisers), a Fast Forward 15 Mentor, Power of Events Advisory Board Member, The Meetings Show Advisory Board Member, Greengage Sustainability Champion and a Power50 Green Champion. 

Sammy has a Master’s degree in Events and Exhibitions Management from BCU and is an Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) practitioner, a keynote speaker for industry events, lecturer for events and exhibition undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has won multiple prestigious awards for her outstanding work in the events sector.
